Reading records will be set up in the next few weeks in purple copies like the one shown. This copy will go home on Monday with a specific reading book. It's very important that these books come back on Thursday as they need to be changed over to other children in the class.
Ideally you should try and read the book with your child every day and talk about the different parts of the story. Ask them questions about it like 'what was your favourite part?',
'why?', 'what do you think happened next?'. All these questions get the children really thinking about their story and instills a passion for reading at a young age!
When you've read it through with your child several times they can write what their favourite part of the story was. Of course they'll need your help with this part for a little while! One option is to write the sentence for your child and they can copy it, then they can draw the picture on their own.
